Disney+ Hotstar has announced the streaming release of the horror-comedy film Munjya, which was originally released in theaters on June 7, 2024.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya is inspired by Marathi folklore and features a talented cast, including Sharvari, Mona Singh, Abhay Verma, and Sathyaraj.

The film centers around the mythical character Munjya and explores the chaos he brings into the life of Bittu, portrayed by Abhay Verma, known for his role in The Family Man.

Mona Singh plays Pummy, a single mother who is highly protective of her son Bittu. The screenplay is the collaborative work of Yogesh Chandekar and Niren Bhatt, with music composed by Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya.

Upon its theatrical release, Munjya enjoyed commercial success, reportedly grossing ₹120 crore in India, according to Sacnilk.com.

The film is described as a mixture of love, obsession, possession, black magic, and horror. While it may not be the perfect horror comedy, it offers a unique blend of new and familiar elements, combined with humor.

Viewers are encouraged to watch through to the end credits for a special song and a surprise reveal that connects Munjya to its counterparts in the horror-comedy genre.
