Music Mogul Chicco Twala Frustrated With Legal System Amid Ongoing Assault Case

Renowned music mogul and producer, Chicco Twala, has expressed his frustrations with the legal system, claiming unfair treatment due to his community status. The assault case against him, currently being heard at the Randburg Magistrates Court, has once again been postponed, marking the 13th delay in proceedings.

Twala, who is currently out on R2,000 bail, is now advocating for the case to be dismissed entirely. His lawyer, Lesley Sedibe, is making the argument that the missing state witness and unconfirmed eye infection story discredit the prosecution’s case.

In an interview with ZiMoja, Twala voiced his frustrations, stating, “This case is dragging because it’s Chicco Twala who is the accused and I must feel that they are working and they are not. There is a guy who was arrested not so long time ago and his case was struck off the roll in front of me. I’m happy that my lawyer has once again asked for the magistrate to strike this case off the roll because there is no case here.”

Twala also expressed his dissatisfaction with the financial burden of the ongoing court appearances, as he is required to cover his legal fees each time he attends. He confidently predicted that the next court appearance will solely focus on getting the case dismissed.

Furthermore, there are concerns that this prolonged legal battle may impact Twala’s involvement in telenovelas. Shows such as Sibongile & The Dlaminis and My Brother’s Keeper, where he has contributed to the soundtracks, could potentially face disruption.
