Mystery Celebrity Costumes Take Center Stage in New Episode
Fox’s popular mystery singing competition, which originated in South Korea, aired a fresh episode on October 9, 2024, featuring celebrities performing in extravagant costumes. The show, always a ratings hit, continues to captivate audiences by concealing the identities of its contestants through elaborate costumes and masks until their eventual elimination.
This season incorporates “Ambassadors,” who are former contestants and have special connections to the new performers. These Ambassadors assist in providing new and significant clues, adding another layer to the guessing game for both the judges and the audience.
The latest episode saw three characters, Buffaloes, Woodpecker, and Ship, delivering their third performances of the season. Ship’s performance of Patti Smith‘s “Because the Night” added intrigue as guesses about their identity circulated among judges and fans. Ken Jeong, one of the judges, posited that Alanis Morissette might be behind the Ship’s mask, although online sleuths seem convinced it might be Paula Cole instead.
A series of clues provided hints about Ship’s identity, including references to “massive hits,” having “made history,” and overcoming a career downturn. These clues were coupled with symbolic imagery, such as a plane with a clock, a “Wanted” poster, and a cowboy hat, further fueling speculation.
In past performances, Ship’s hints included symbols of a cheerleading past and connections with Melissa Etheridge. Additionally, a rowboat and a congratulatory message supposedly from 1998 were among the latest clues presented, hinting at some of the singer’s past struggles and triumphs.
Following this episode, Buffaloes, readily identified by fans as the iconic group Boyz II Men, were involved in the ongoing competition, along with what many believe to be Marsai Martin portraying the Woodpecker. As the competition intensifies, only one of these performers will advance to the next stage following a double elimination round.
