LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The highly anticipated fourth season of Apple TV+’s “Mythic Quest” premiered on January 29, 2025, bringing back the beloved ensemble cast for another round of workplace chaos and personal drama. The season kicks off with a two-part premiere, followed by weekly episodes through March 26.

This season, the show continues to explore the blurred lines between personal and professional lives, particularly through the evolving relationship between co-creative directors Poppy Li (Charlotte Nicdao) and Ian Grimm (Rob McElhenney). Poppy’s new romantic interest, artist Storm (Chase Yi), adds a fresh dynamic to the duo’s already complicated partnership, creating tension and new comedic opportunities.

“Mythic Quest” has always excelled in its ensemble storytelling, and season 4 is no exception. Dana (Imani Hakim) faces challenges balancing her creative ambitions with financial realities, while her girlfriend Rachel (Ashly Burch), MQ’s head of monetization, navigates a potential conflict of interest. Meanwhile, Jo (Jessie Ennis) and Brad (Danny Pudi) bring their signature intensity to Dana’s team, further complicating office dynamics.

Season 4 also introduces timely themes, such as the impact of generative AI on the video game industry. While the topic provides some laughs, it doesn’t delve as deeply as it could. However, the show’s trademark humor shines in other areas, such as Playpen‘s transformation into a platform for animated smut, leading to a series of visual gags.

One of the standout episodes takes the team out of the office for a murder mystery event, showcasing the show’s ability to blend humor with character development. Directed by co-creator Megan Ganz, the episode highlights the nuanced relationships that have been building since season 1.

Charlotte Nicdao delivers a standout performance as Poppy, navigating new insecurities and comedic challenges with ease. Rob McElhenney remains a steady presence as Ian, balancing arrogance with vulnerability. Together, they anchor a season that proves “Mythic Quest” is far from running out of creative steam.

Despite some underdeveloped storylines and characters, season 4 maintains the show’s high joke quota and sharp wit. With its mix of workplace satire and heartfelt moments, “Mythic Quest” continues to be one of TV’s most engaging comedies.
