Nbc Sports Network Launch Details

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — NBCUniversal‘s newly standalone NBC Sports Network launched earlier this month and is now available through select Comcast Xfinity TV packages. The 24-hour sports channel features a variety of live sports content, including NBA and WNBA games, English Premier League soccer, college basketball, and more.

The NBC Sports Network is included in Xfinity’s Popular TV package and its Sports & News bundle. This network brings programming that was previously exclusive to NBCU’s Peacock streaming service, expanding accessibility for viewers.

Events on NBC Sports Network include Monday Night NBA games, NBA playoff games, Premier League soccer matches, and college football, notably featuring Big Ten and Notre Dame teams. The channel also covers golf majors, cycling events, and Olympic sports such as skiing, figure skating, and track and field.

Sports fans will see coverage on various formats, with some events remaining exclusive to Peacock. A notable upcoming event is the NFL Week 17 game scheduled for December 27, which will air solely on Peacock.

Founded in 1995 as the Outdoor Life Network, the NBC Sports Network has undergone several name changes and program shifts over the years, including rebranding to Versus and finally to NBC Sports Network in 2012. Recently, NBCU has transferred some sports content to USA and Peacock to streamline their offerings.

As for accessibility, NBC Sports Network launched on YouTube TV on November 17, solidifying its presence among major streaming services. Comcast and YouTube TV are currently the only platforms carrying the NBC Sports Network, while negotiations are ongoing for distribution through DIRECTV.
