NBCC to Develop ₹2000 Crore Mixed-Use Project in Kerala
The government-owned National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) has announced its plans to develop a mixed-use project worth ₹2000 crore in Kerala, according to a recent statement. The project will be developed on 17.9 acres of land at Marine Drive in Kochi, which is owned by the Kerala State Housing Board.
The project will be executed in phases, following a self-sustainable development model. The proposed development includes a combination of commercial and residential spaces, with a focus on sustainable urban development that caters to the evolving needs of the community.
K.P. Mahadevaswamy, the Chairman and Managing Director of NBCC, expressed the corporation’s commitment to creating spaces that harmonize with the community’s requirements and contribute to sustainable urban development.
The land parcel at Marine Drive has been divided into two parts, with approximately 3.16 acres and 14.74 acres respectively. The concept note prepared by NBCC proposes the construction of a built-up area of about 71,900 sq.m and 3,20,700 sq.m in each of the two parts.
The project envisions two distinct pockets of development. The first pocket will include mixed development with commercial and office facilities, as well as residential flats. The second pocket will feature a residential complex along with a connected commercial facility, a convention center with a capacity of 2500 people, and a hotel.
This ambitious development is intended to resemble a mini smart city and will incorporate sustainable features such as solar power, rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment plants, and effective waste disposal methods.
NBCC has prepared a concept note for the project, which will be presented to an empowered committee of the state government for approval.
