NetEase Games Responds to Marvel Rivals Support Players’ Strike

Shanghai, China — NetEase Games has announced plans to address concerns from players using the Strategist class in Marvel Rivals, just days after a widespread Support strike by fans. The game’s Season 2 has introduced new characters, maps, and modes, but balance changes have left many Support players feeling sidelined.
Since the beginning of Season 2, the effectiveness of the Support class has declined significantly, leading to frustration among players. As Vanguards and Duelists dominate the battlefield, players utilizing the Strategist class report not only challenging matches but also negative interactions within the game environment.
This unrest peaked last week when hundreds of players publicly vowed to step away from the Support role until NetEase provided clarity on improving the experience. One player expressed, “We just want basic respect. It’s tiring to be called brain dead or worthless when your stats are solid.”
In response to these issues, NetEase released a statement detailing plans to improve the Support class. The company aims to raise the “threat levels” of Strategist characters in an upcoming patch, potentially buffing heroes like Invisible Woman while nerfing stronger Vanguards like Captain America.
The developers also mentioned adjustments to the Competitive mode, which has seen Duelists performing notably better than other roles. NetEase plans to modify performance rating calculations to ensure fairness across all heroes.
“Balancing the game is challenging, and we can’t guarantee perfection, but we strive to enhance your experience,” the company stated in their blog post. Players await more details on upcoming balance changes and are encouraged to stay tuned for official announcements.
Marvel Rivals has also teased the introduction of Ultron as the newest playable Vanguard hero in Season 2.5.
