LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Netflix is set to release full seasons of two of its most popular spy-thriller series, *The Night Agent* and *The Recruit*, just one week apart in January 2025. Both shows will debut their entire second seasons at once, marking a departure from Netflix’s previous strategy of splitting seasons into parts.

*The Night Agent*, which became Netflix’s seventh most-watched series with 98.2 million views, will premiere its 10-episode second season on January 23. *The Recruit*, a sleeper hit with a dedicated fanbase, will release its six-episode season on January 16. The decision to drop full seasons reflects Netflix’s shift away from staggered releases, a practice the streaming giant has recently phased out for major series like *Squid Game*.

“Netflix seems to be prioritizing viewer engagement over prolonged subscriptions,” said an industry analyst. “The drop-off between split seasons likely influenced this change.”

Both series have garnered solid reviews, with *The Night Agent* holding a 74% critic score and 78% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, while *The Recruit* boasts a 68% critic score and an 84% audience score. Despite their similarities in genre, the shows have distinct fanbases, with *The Night Agent* drawing a significantly larger audience.

The release of these seasons comes after lengthy waits for fans. *The Recruit* last aired in December 2022, and *The Night Agent* in March 2023. “Fans have been eagerly anticipating these returns,” said a Netflix spokesperson. “We’re excited to deliver the full seasons without delay.”

Season 2 of *The Night Agent* will feature new cast members, including Amanda Warren and Brittany Snow, and is set primarily in New York. The series, based on Matthew Quirk‘s novel, follows FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) and cybersecurity expert Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan) as they thwart a terrorist attack. The show is executive produced by Shawn Ryan, creator of *The Shield*.

Meanwhile, *The Recruit*, starring Noah Centineo as a CIA lawyer navigating dangerous international conspiracies, continues to build its reputation as a reliable action-drama. Both series are expected to secure third seasons if their second installments perform well.

The simultaneous release of these shows underscores Netflix’s confidence in its spy-thriller lineup. “These series may not break records, but they are consistent performers,” said a streaming analyst. “They represent the kind of content that keeps subscribers coming back.”
