LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Netflix announced Thursday that the highly anticipated third season of its hit drama series “Ginny & Georgia” will premiere on June 5, 2025. The show, which follows the complex relationship between mother-daughter duo Georgia and Ginny Miller, will pick up immediately after the shocking events of Season 2’s finale.

In the final moments of Season 2, Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey) was arrested for murder during her wedding reception, leaving her children Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Austin (Diesel La Torraca) to grapple with the fallout. The arrest came after Georgia was implicated in the death of Cynthia Fuller’s husband, a storyline that has been building since the show’s first season.

“Georgia has just been arrested for murder during her wedding — ruining her fairy tale ending and putting the spotlight on the Millers like never before,” Netflix’s official synopsis reads. “It’s always been Ginny and Georgia against the world, but the world has never come for them quite like this.”

Series creator Sarah Lampert revealed that the dramatic twist was planned from the show’s inception. “How we pitched Season 1 and then how we ended our pitch of Season 2 was, ‘Then Georgia’s married to Paul, they’re having their first dance, and she’s arrested for murder,'” Lampert told PEOPLE in 2023. “So it was always the plan.”

Season 3 will delve into the emotional aftermath of Georgia’s arrest, particularly for her children. Lampert explained that Ginny will face moral dilemmas about her loyalty to her mother, while Austin will struggle with the trauma of witnessing his mother’s arrest. “Ginny also has associated with actions that her mother has done,” Lampert said. “That’s something Ginny’s going to have to grapple with.”

Brianne Howey, who plays Georgia, teased that the upcoming season will push the characters to new limits. “I’m blown away that the writers are still able to show us completely new sides of each character, and that’s what you’re going to see in Season 3,” Howey said. “Georgia has to dig deeper into a part of herself we haven’t seen yet.”

The show, which has been praised for its realistic portrayal of mental health issues among teens, will continue to explore complex themes in Season 3. Season 2 tackled topics such as depression, eating disorders, and self-harm, and the creators have emphasized their commitment to addressing these issues with depth and sensitivity.

“Ginny & Georgia” has been a breakout success for Netflix since its debut in 2021. Season 2 spent nearly two months in the global top 10 rankings in 88 countries, and the show has already been renewed for a fourth season. The first two seasons are currently streaming on Netflix, with Season 3 set to premiere on June 5, 2025.
