Netflix Releases Full Trailer for ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Live-Action Adaptation
Netflix has released the full trailer for its live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon‘s beloved animated series ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’. The highly anticipated show will consist of eight hour-long episodes and is set to premiere on Netflix on February 22. This follows the release of a teaser trailer in November.
Starring Gordon Cormier as Aang, an Avatar tasked with mastering the four elements to save the world from the Fire Nation‘s threat, the official logline reveals that Aang will be accompanied by siblings Sokka, played by Ian Ousley, and Kiawentiio as Katara. As they journey to restore balance in the world, they face formidable obstacles, including the relentless pursuit of Fire Lord Ozai.
The trailer showcases intense bending abilities and the war waged by the Fire Nation, while also offering glimpses of other significant characters. These include Arden Cho as June, Utkarsh Ambudkar as King Bumi, Sebastien Amoruso as Jet, and Maria Zhang as Suki, among others.
The live-action adaptation is helmed by showrunner Albert Kim and directed by Michael Goi and Jabbar Raisani. Executive producers include Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore from Rideback, alongside Roseanne Liu and Jet Wilkinson. Notably, creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino were initially involved but decided to focus on their own Avatar Studios and an upcoming animated film.
