Netflix Zero Day Trailer Still

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Netflix‘s upcoming political thriller “Zero Day” has released a gripping trailer ahead of its Feb. 20 premiere. The six-episode limited series, featuring a star-studded cast including Angela Bassett, Robert De Niro, and Jesse Plemons, explores the aftermath of a devastating cyber attack that kills thousands and threatens to strike again.

The trailer opens with a chilling message: “This will happen again.” The fictional “Zero Day” attack, which claims 3,402 lives, plunges the nation into chaos. President Evelyn Mitchell (Bassett) enlists former President George Mullen (De Niro) to lead a special commission to investigate the attack. “Congress is authorizing a special Zero Day Commission, hunting down anyone who aided and abetted this horrific attack,” Mitchell declares.

As Mullen delves deeper, he faces mounting pressure and criticism. His wife, played by Joan Allen, warns him, “Prove to me you are of sound mind, or I will tell the country that you are not.” Meanwhile, Mullen’s former aide, Roger Carlson (Plemons), cautions, “If the mob storms the castle and comes for all of our heads, everyone’s gonna be in trouble.”

The series promises to tackle themes of political unrest, disinformation, and personal ambition. “As disinformation runs rampant and the personal ambition of power brokers in technology, Wall Street, and government collide, Mullen’s unwavering search for the truth forces him to confront his own dark secrets while risking all he holds dear,” reads the official synopsis.

De Niro, who also serves as an executive producer, praised his character’s honesty. “That’s the spine of my character in the show. … Don’t dodge anything. Don’t play games. Be honest about what’s going on so that the public knows what’s going on,” he told Netflix.

Directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and created by Eric Newman and Noah Oppenheim, “Zero Day” also stars Lizzy Caplan, Matthew Modine, and Bill Camp. The series will be available to stream on Netflix starting Feb. 20.
