Tv Show Renewals And Cancellations 2025

Hollywood, CA — This week, various television networks unveiled their decisions regarding popular shows for the 2025 season, resulting in a mix of renewals and cancellations.

Netflix announced the renewal of its animated series Splinter Cell: Deathwatch for a second season, just a day after its premiere. Adapted from Tom Clancy‘s video game series, the show follows Sam Fisher and a new recruit trying to uncover a global conspiracy. Critics have praised season one, giving it a Tomatometer score of 82%.

Meanwhile, Yellowjackets, the acclaimed mystery-thriller on Paramount+, will come to an end after its fourth season. Show creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson shared in a statement, “We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end,” emphasizing their respect for the narrative.

Prime Video scrapped two newly premiered shows, Butterfly and Countdown. The first features Daniel Dae Kim as a U.S. spy, while the latter centers around Jensen Ackles portraying an LAPD detective. Both shows received sufficient ratings but did not manage to secure a second season.

On the other hand, Dexter: Resurrection, a sequel to the original series, has received a renewal for a second season, with Michael C. Hall reprising his infamous role as Dexter Morgan. Showrunner Clyde Phillips stated in previous comments that they were hopeful for another season.

Paramount+ also confirmed that the series Lioness, starring Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman, will continue with season three. The news was welcomed after the first two seasons garnered positive reactions from audiences.

While fans debated the fate of many shows, the entertainment industry remains dynamic, with decisions reflecting both viewer engagement and network strategies.
