Bono Documentary Apple Tv+ Immersive Experience

Cupertino, California — The new documentary titled “Bono: Stories of Surrender” begins streaming this Friday, May 30, on Apple TV+. The film marks its debut as the first feature-length immersive video built for the Vision Pro headset.

The Vision Pro version offers viewers an 8K Spatial Audio experience, allowing fans to feel as if they are right on stage with the U2 frontman. Apple TV+ describes the film as a “bold and lyrical visual exploration” of Bono’s acclaimed one-man show, showcasing his personal journey as a musician, activist, and family man.

Bono’s documentary is based on his celebrated memoir and reimagines his stage storytelling in a compelling format. It features never-before-seen footage from his performances at New York City’s Beacon Theatre, interwoven with personal anecdotes about his life.

<p“It's a heartfelt portrait of the U2 star,” one review notes, while another criticizes it for “rock star pomposity.” A third comment sums it up well: “A punch-to-the-guts stage show once you get past the Bono-ness of it all.”

Directed by Andrew Dominik, known for movies such as “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” and “Blonde,” the film includes Bono performing many of U2’s iconic songs over their four-decade career.

Alongside Bono, the documentary’s production team comprises notable figures like Jon Kamen and Dave Sirulnick from RadicalMedia, and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment team. Bono also serves as an executive producer on the project.

To tie into the documentary’s release, an abridged paperback edition of his memoir, also titled “Bono: Stories of Surrender,” will be released on May 30, featuring a film tie-in cover and a new introduction by Bono.

Bono, born Paul David Hewson, has led U2 through memorable concerts and advocates for social causes like the fight against AIDS and poverty. His accolades include prestigious awards like the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom and an honorary British knighthood.

On May 30, Apple will add the Bono documentary to its lineup of original programming, which has garnered numerous awards since its launch in 2019. Apple TV+ is available through a subscription or as part of the Apple One bundle.
