Hugh Grant In Heretic Horror Movie Poster

LOS ANGELES, CA — Hugh Grant takes a thrilling turn in the new horror film, “Heretic,” premiering on Max on March 7. Directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the film features two young Mormon missionaries, Sister Barnes (Sophie Thatcher) and Sister Paxton (Chloe East), who find themselves trapped in a nightmare when they visit the home of Mr. Reed (Grant), a charismatic yet sinister figure.

The psychological horror unfolds as what begins as a simple theological debate spirals into a deadly game of wits, where Reed’s dark intellect puts the missionaries’ faith to the ultimate test. “This film explores the fragility of faith when confronted with profound evil,” Beck commented.

In addition to this chilling entry into the horror genre, audiences are reminded of other underrated films available for streaming. One notable title is “He's Just Not That Into You,” a romantic comedy featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Jennifer Aniston, Ginnifer Goodwin, Drew Barrymore, and Bradley Cooper. Set in Baltimore, the film examines the complexities of modern dating through the intertwining stories of nine characters. Critics have noted it as a nostalgic nod to the rom-com genre’s heyday.

Another recommended film is “The Iron Claw,” a poignant biopic that chronicles the tragic story of the Von Erich wrestling family. Featuring a powerful performance by Zac Efron as Kevin Von Erich, the film dives deep into themes of ambition, legacy, and familial struggles. Director Sean Durkin highlights the almost mythical rise and fall of these wrestling superstars during the 1980s.

Lastly, reflecting on the often-overlooked struggles of those living in poverty, “The Florida Project,” directed by Sean Baker, shines a light on the life of a young girl, Moonee (Brooklynn Kimberly Prince), and her mother living in a budget motel just minutes from Disney World. The film has received critical acclaim for its vibrant storytelling and emotional depth, featuring Willem Dafoe in a touching role as the motel’s manager.

As the streaming landscape continues to evolve, movies like these remind audiences of the diverse storytelling available in cinema today, offering both escapism and poignant reflections on reality.
