New Netflix Film Inspires Breakups and Life Changes Among Viewers

Los Angeles, CA — The romantic comedy “The Life List,” starring Sofia Carson, Connie Britton, and Kyle Allen, is set to premiere on Netflix March 28. The film, directed by Adam Brooks, explores a young woman’s journey of self-discovery following the passing of her mother.
In the movie, Carson plays Alex Rose, who is taken aback when she learns of a peculiar stipulation in her mother’s will: to inherit her mother’s estate, Alex must complete the goals on her childhood bucket list. This list, created when she was just 13, includes ambitions ranging from performing stand-up comedy to experiencing a mosh pit. The final item—”find true love”—proves to be her greatest challenge.
As Alex navigates this journey of self-discovery, she utilizes a series of questions her mother left behind to help her identify the right partner. These queries include key qualities such as kindness and the potential to support her in becoming her best self. According to Carson, the questions were so impactful that many test audience members reported significant changes in their lives after the screenings.
“Adam would call me all the time after test screenings, and he would say that there were so many people that would tell him, ‘I ended up breaking up with my boyfriend,’ or ‘I ended up changing or quitting my job,’” Carson said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “This film raises all these existential questions. That’s the beauty of this film; it’s so much more than a rom-com.”
The film not only focuses on romantic entanglements but also delves into themes of familial love and personal growth. Carson expressed how working on “The Life List” inspired her to create her own life list. “So many of us tend to forget the little girl that was a fearless dreamer,” she reflected. “I left that set a different Sofia that I think little Sofia would be so deeply proud of.”
As Alex ticks off her childhood ambitions, the film emphasizes the importance of pursuing one’s dreams. Carson has noted that seeing her own dreams come to fruition has been a transformative experience. “Little Sofia would just be over the moon,” she added. “Some of the things that have happened in my life weren’t even on my list because it’s greater than I could have dreamt.”
The Life List provides a profound blend of comedy and drama, pushing viewers not only to reflect on their aspirations but also to take actionable steps toward achieving them. As anticipation builds for its release, many are speculating how the film’s narrative will resonate with audiences and inspire them to reconsider their own life choices.
The Life List will be available for streaming on Netflix starting March 28.
