New Predator Animated Film Set for June Premiere on Hulu

LOS ANGELES, CA — An original animated film, Predator: Killer of Killers, set in the iconic Predator universe, will premiere exclusively on Hulu on June 6, 2025. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who revitalized the franchise with the 2022 hit, Prey, the film showcases a thrilling anthology featuring three legendary warriors from different eras battling a terrifying predator.
This animated film tells the interwoven stories of a Viking raider seeking revenge for her son’s death, a ninja in feudal Japan facing off against his samurai brother over a brutal succession, and a WWII fighter pilot confronting a cosmic threat against the Allied forces. Each warrior, despite being formidable killers, must confront the ultimate predator.
“This project allows us to explore different time periods and express a new visual storytelling style that hasn’t been seen in previous Predator films,” Trachtenberg said during a recent media event. “We’re merging intense action with a rich narrative, making sure that the emotional weight of the characters connects audiences to their struggles.”
The screenplay was crafted by Micho Robert Rutare, in collaboration with Trachtenberg, based on characters created by Jim Thomas and John Thomas. The film is produced by John Davis, Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, and Ben Rosenblatt, with Lawrence Gordon, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas, and Stefan Grube serving as executive producers.
Complementing Trachtenberg’s direction, Josh Wassung from The Third Floor serves as co-director, emphasizing a fresh artistic direction inspired by acclaimed animation such as Netflix’s Arcane. “We aimed to push creative boundaries of what an animated Predator can deliver,” he explained. “The action sequences maintain the franchise’s signature intensity while exploring new dimensions within the animation medium.”
Interestingly, Killer of Killers arrives alongside a live-action film, Predator: Badlands, also directed by Trachtenberg, scheduled to hit theaters on November 7, 2025. Badlands stars Elle Fanning and presents an unexpected alliance between her character, Thia, and a young Predator.
According to Trachtenberg, the simultaneous development of both films reflects a broader narrative strategy, stating, “While they’re distinct projects, the overarching themes of survival and resilience across cultures connect them. However, you don’t need to watch one to appreciate the other.”
The excitement for Killer of Killers has been building within the fan community, particularly since the concept of intertwining the Predator lore with historical warriors was teased in previous installments. “Predators have hunted humans throughout history,” said an unnamed source close to the production. “This animated anthology unleashes that potential fully.”
As the trailer suggests, the animation allows for expansive storytelling without the limitations of practical effects, enabling the portrayal of creative and gruesome encounters that push the boundaries of the genre. Trachtenberg indicated that he wants the experience to be cinematic: “This film should evoke the same visceral reactions as live-action films; we want audiences to be entranced.”
Predator: Killer of Killers represents an ambitious chapter in the franchise, showcasing a diverse tapestry of narratives that explore humanity’s darkest and fiercest instincts. Fans and newcomers alike can expect a unique viewing experience when it streams on Hulu this summer.
