Mentiras Series Amazon Prime 80s Pop Music

Mexico City, Mexico – The new series “Mentiras,” now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, is an adaptation of the popular Mexican musical that celebrates 1980s Latin pop ballads. With a vibrant aesthetic and a mix of drama, comedy, and music, the show stars Regina Blandón, Diana Bovio, and Luis Gerardo Méndez.

Focusing on four women – Daniela, Dulce, Yuri, and Lupita – the plot centers on their intertwined relationships with the same man, Emmanuel Mijares. After Mijares’ sudden death, the women gather at a mysterious mansion to uncover the secrets of his double life. As the story unfolds, themes of betrayal and hidden truths emerge, strengthening the bonds of sisterhood among the characters.

The characters draw inspiration from iconic 80s Mexican singers, enhancing the show’s nostalgic appeal. Viewers can enjoy live performances of classic songs from that era, including hits like “Él me mintió,” “Detrás de mi ventana,” and “Amiga mía,” which enrich the narrative.

Alongside original songs, the series pays homage to what many call “the best decade in history” through nostalgic references, from the mention of early cell phones to brightly colored fashion trends characteristic of the 80s. The inclusion of cameos from famous 1980s figures adds an extra layer of familiarity for the audience, connecting the past with the present.

“Mentiras” not only intertwines fiction with reality but also offers viewers an immersive nostalgic experience that celebrates the music, television, and pop icons of a generation. The series debuted on June 13, 2023, on Prime Video, giving fans a trip down memory lane while introducing a new audience to the beloved stories of the past.
