NEW YORK, NY — Nexstar Media Group has appointed Michael Perman as Senior Vice President of Sports for CW Network, effective immediately. In this newly created role, Perman will lead strategy, programming, and media rights for CW Sports, which already features programming from WWE, NASCAR, and various college sports franchises.
Previously, Perman was Senior Vice President of Global Media Rights at Aggregate Sports. With over 20 years in the sports media industry, he has held significant roles at notable organizations including NBC Sports and the NBA.
“As our sports programming schedule continues to grow at a breakneck pace, we are excited to bring a consummate pro like Mike Perman to our team of experienced industry executives, producers, and talent,” said Brad Schwartz, President of the CW Network. “With nearly 400 hours of sports content now under Mike’s leadership, we are confident he will play a significant role in driving continued success for CW Sports,” he added.
Perman expressed enthusiasm about his new position, stating, “I am thrilled to be able to deliver first-class sports programming across The CW’s ubiquitously available broadcast and digital platforms while fostering strong and enduring relationships within the sports world.”
Before joining CW, Perman was Vice President of Programming for NBC Sports Group, overseeing key properties such as NASCAR and the National Hockey League. He also served as Director of Scheduling for Comcast-owned sports channels prior to NBC Universal’s merger with Comcast.
The CW is undertaking a significant programming revamp, looking to expand its audience by attracting sports fans through a more diverse lineup. Current offerings include sports from the ACC, Pac-12, and events like Inside The NFL and Grand Slam Track.
With Michael Perman at the helm, CW Sports aims to transform the network into a premier destination for live sporting events, reflecting a broader strategy to enhance its competitive edge in the sports broadcasting sector.
