Foxborough, MANick Wright, a prominent personality on FS1, has once again placed the New England Patriots among the top contenders in the NFL following their eighth consecutive win. This endorsement came after the Patriots secured a 27-14 victory over the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football.

Despite his allegiance to the Kansas City Chiefs, Wright expressed confidence in the Patriots’ potential for the postseason. “I believe they are going to be the one seed in the AFC,” Wright said during a segment on “First Things First.” He added, “I will pick them to win any AFC playoff game they play, except for against the Kansas City Chiefs. I think they are legitimately, right now, the second-best team in the AFC.”

Wright’s assessment held weight, given the Patriots’ impressive 9-2 start under head coach Mike Vrabel. He noted, “I don’t think it’s just a product of the schedule. I think when you have a coach as sharp as Vrabel and a quarterback that’s just getting better, without a glaring weakness on the team.”

Quarterback Drake Maye also received accolades from Wright, who claimed he would take him over established stars like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson. “He’s that guy,” Wright said, reflecting on Maye’s performance this season.

The Patriots have faced only three teams with winning records this season, but their recent performances have sparked optimism among fans and analysts alike. Maye’s ability to thrive under pressure has caught the eye, as he achieved a quarterback rating over 100 in Thursday’s game. With another notable showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals on the horizon, the Patriots’ momentum appears to be building.

For now, the focus remains on maintaining their winning streak and solidifying their position in the AFC as they head toward the playoff picture.
