Nicolle Wallace Launches New Podcast ‘The Best People’

NEW YORK, NY — Nicolle Wallace, the Emmy-nominated host of MSNBC’s Deadline: White House, is stepping into the podcasting world with her new show, The Best People. She shared her inspiration for the project in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, stating it emerged after the reelection of Donald Trump ignited her desire to reach audiences in new ways.
“I think after the reelection of Donald Trump, I went to my bosses and offered to do more, sort of realizing that this was a big story and recognizing that maybe not everybody is watching the news every day,” said Wallace, 53. “I wanted to be sort of available in other mediums.” The podcast aims to foster extended conversations, bridging the gap between daily news and personal experiences.
Wallace emphasizes the importance of discussing both political and personal topics in her episodes. “We do not avoid the elephant in the room,” she asserts. “We’re not going to heal the divisions in our politics until we sit down at the table and talk about common experiences like raising kids or making time for date night.”
The Best People will feature a star-studded lineup of guests, including notable friends from the political and entertainment worlds, like MSNBC host and friend, Doc Rivers. Wallace’s podcast joins a growing list of original shows from MSNBC, including Rachel Maddow Presents: Ultra and Why Is This Happening?
With a career that includes interviewing top politicians, Wallace believes her voice will find its place in the busy podcasting landscape. “I’m not the variable; it’s the collection of amazing people that agreed to talk to us,” she stated. The measure of success for her show lies in connecting with listeners. “If the people that come enjoy it, we will feel like we served our listener,” she added.
In addition to professional commitments, Wallace balances family life with her pre-podcast routine, which includes checking in with her husband, New York Times journalist, and ensuring attention to her children. “For a 13-year-old boy, sushi counts as a mini meal,” she humorously noted. “And lots of caffeine.”
The Best People debuts on Monday, June 2, featuring new episodes weekly on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other listening platforms. Wallace’s other show, Deadline: White House, airs weekdays at 4 p.m. ET on MSNBC.
