M. Night Shyamalan Remain Film

BURBANK, Calif. — M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural romance thriller, titled Remain, is scheduled to hit theaters on October 23, 2026. This film, co-created with bestselling author Nicholas Sparks, is set to be released by Warner Bros.

Remain stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Phoebe Dynevor, and Ashley Walters. The film is based on an original love story that Shyamalan and Sparks have developed independently, with each creating a screenplay and novel tailored to their respective formats.

Sparks’ novel, also titled Remain, is set for release on October 7, 2025. The story follows Tate Donovan, a New York architect who seeks a fresh start in Cape Cod after overcoming depression and the loss of his sister, Sylvia. As he settles into a bed-and-breakfast, he meets Wren, a woman who pushes him to reconsider his logical views on life.

The thematic exploration of love, loss, and the supernatural begins when Tate discovers unsettling secrets in Wren’s life, putting their connection to the test. Both projects form a unique collaboration, intertwining the deeply personal stories from Shyamalan and Sparks.

This October 2026 release date is notable as it coincides with another major film from Jordan Peele, making for a potentially competitive box office weekend. Shyamalan’s previous film, Trap, grossed nearly $84 million globally, raising expectations for Remain.

The film is being produced by Shyamalan, alongside Ashwin Rajan for Blinding Edge Pictures, and Theresa Park and Marc Bienstock. Sparks will serve as an executive producer.
