Ninja Gaiden 4 Set to Launch on October 21, 2025
LOS ANGELES, California — Ninja Gaiden 4 will officially launch on October 21, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. This marks the first mainline installment in the Ninja Gaiden franchise in years.
Announced during the Xbox Games Showcase, the game will become available in the U.S. just before the evening of October 20. Players in major cities like London and Paris will see a very early launch on the 21st, allowing them to dive into gameplay almost immediately if they have preloaded the game.
The download size varies by platform, with the Xbox Series X|S needing approximately 36.82GB, while the PC version will be about 54.9GB. PS5 players will benefit from the smallest download requirement at 23.55GB. These sizes are subject to change due to future updates and patches.
Ninja Gaiden 4 follows Ryu Hayabusa and a new protagonist, Yakumo, as they navigate the underworld of Tokyo. According to game director Fumihiko Yasuda, “Ninja Gaiden 4 is a new mainline entry in this high-speed action series, where you become the ultimate ninja and take on relentless enemies in fierce combat.”
Set in a near-future Tokyo plagued by the Dark Dragon’s curse, players will encounter formidable bosses and a chaotic environment as they battle various enemies. Yakumo’s unique fighting technique, called Bloodraven Form, lets him manipulate blood to unleash powerful attacks, and players will also get the chance to use Ryu’s different combat style.
The game includes accessibility options that can reduce or increase difficulty levels, catering to both newcomers and veterans of the series. As expressed by gaming journalist Jessica Cogswell, “Ninja Gaiden 4 is shaping up to be a fun reunion for series veterans, as well as a great entry point for newcomers.”
The game has been rated M18 due to its graphic combat and mature themes, featuring stylized sequences of strong violence and explicit gore. Players can expect intense gameplay that highlights the unique abilities of both protagonists.
