Nintendo Direct Unveils Exciting Titles and New App for Switch in 2025

REDMOND, Wash. — Nintendo showcased a host of upcoming titles and features in its Nintendo Direct presentation on March 27, 2025, setting the stage for a vibrant year ahead. Among the key highlights was the announcement of the new smart-device app, Nintendo Today!, which provides users with the latest news, videos, and comics about their favorite Nintendo games and franchises.
In addition to the app, the presentation revealed several anticipated games coming to the Nintendo Switch, including Rhythm Heaven Groove and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. The event also featured updates on major titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, which is set to launch this winter. This array of announcements illustrates Nintendo’s commitment to delivering new content well into 2025 and beyond.
“With the launch of these new games and the Nintendo Today! app, we are excited to connect with our fans in innovative ways,” said Shigeru Miyamoto, a prominent figure at Nintendo, during the presentation. “This app will enhance how gamers access and engage with Nintendo content.”
The Nintendo Today! app will be available on iOS and Android devices, allowing users to customize their experience with animations and updates related to specific game series such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Animal Crossing.
Another notable feature discussed in the presentation was the introduction of Virtual Game Cards, which will allow players to lend or borrow digital games within their Nintendo Account family groups. This enhancement aims to simplify game management for Switch users.
During the showcase, Nintendo also highlighted several upcoming titles from its global partners, including Tamagotchi Plaza, which launches on June 27; STORY OF SEASONS: Grand Bazaar, set for release on August 27; and DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake, launching later this year.
In total, numerous partners contributed titles, reinforcing Nintendo’s thriving ecosystem of developers and creative talent. The presentation informed fans about various independent games and collaborations that will enrich the Switch’s game library in the coming months.
