Nio Launches Pre-Orders for Updated SUVs and Sedans in China

WUHAN, China — Nio Inc. (NYSE: NIO) has begun accepting pre-orders for its refreshed ES6 SUV, EC6 coupe SUV, and ET5 and ET5 Touring sedans. The announcement was made on May 10, 2025, ahead of their official launches scheduled for later this month.
Customers can pre-order any of the four updated models for RMB 5,000 ($690) and will receive a bonus credit of RMB 1,000 upon delivery. Those who commit by June 30 can also get up to 240 free battery swaps over five years.
Nio plans to launch the updated ES6 and EC6 on May 16, followed by the ET5 and ET5 Touring on May 25. Show cars for the ES6 and EC6 are already available in Nio showrooms, while those for the ET5 and ET5 Touring will be available from May 22.
The facelifted models come with slight tweaks to their exteriors, but the interiors feature significant upgrades, including horizontal center screens and Nio’s Shenji autonomous driving chip. The company claims these updates will provide a more luxurious and safer driving experience among premium EVs in China.
Pricing details have yet to be announced, but the starting prices for the 2024 models were RMB 338,000 for the ES6, RMB 358,000 for the EC6, and RMB 298,000 for both the ET5 and ET5 Touring. Since their launch, the ES6 and EC6 have attracted nearly 370,000 users, leading the high-end pure-electric SUV market in China.
