2025 Nissan Murano

The 2025 Nissan Murano marks a significant evolution in the automaker’s lineup, introducing a next-generation sport utility vehicle (SUV) that challenges competitors like the Chevrolet Blazer and Honda Passport. This new iteration of the Murano boasts additional comforts, advanced technology, and various options designed to cater to modern consumer demands.

According to Ed Kim, president and chief analyst at AutoPacific, the existing Murano’s sales have weakened due to its aging design and changing market dynamics. “The current Nissan Murano has seen its sales dwindle to a fraction of the volumes it saw during its best years,” Kim stated in an interview with Newsweek. He emphasized the importance of regular updates in the highly competitive market filled with more frequently refreshed crossover SUVs.

Nissan has reimagined the Murano for 2025, widening it by 2.6 inches and featuring flared fenders to achieve sporty proportions. These design changes are complemented by ultra-thin “Crystal Cube” LED headlights and gloss black strips. The signature V-motion grille includes LED daytime running lights, enhancing its modern appeal.

Internally, the Murano upgrades include luxurious first-row seating, dual 12.3-inch digital screens, and a genuine two-tone paint option replacing the previous floating-roof design. Under the hood, the Murano now features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 241 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, replacing the former V6 engine but offering more torque. The nine-speed automatic transmission offers a choice between front- or all-wheel drive with a towing capacity of up to 1,500 pounds.

The interior features are focused on technology and convenience, with the dashboard hosting twin 12.3-inch displays. One acts as the infotainment system with wireless connectivity options, including Android Auto, and the other serves as a digital instrument cluster. Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 is standard, incorporating various safety and driver-assist technologies to enhance driving security.

The Murano also includes recently updated technology such as the 3D Intelligent Around View Monitor, which offers multiple virtual views of the car’s surroundings, a feature that improves ease of navigation in tight spots. ProPilot Assist is available, which combines adaptive cruise control with steering assistance for highway driving. Despite segment challenges, Kim notes that the exit of certain models may open opportunities for Nissan’s refreshed offerings.

The Murano is set to sit between Nissan’s smaller Rogue and the larger, three-row Pathfinder when it enters the market in early 2025. While the segment for larger two-row SUVs has been shrinking, Nissan hopes to attract customers with its latest innovations in design and technology.
