Notre Dame Football Launches ‘Cleats For A Cause’ Initiative for Local Charities
The University of Notre Dame football program has announced its continued partnership with Under Armour for the ‘Cleats For A Cause’ initiative in 2024. This initiative aims to support five local charities and will commence during the team’s ceremonial walk from the Basilica of the Sacred Heart to Notre Dame Stadium on September 21, 2024, in conjunction with the Miami-Ohio football game.
Each participating student-athlete will don special-edition Under Armour Slip Speed shoes during this event. An online auction of these shoes will be held prior to and following the game, providing football fans and supporters with an opportunity to contribute to this worthy cause. Moreover, custom cleats designed in tribute to select Notre Dame football student-athletes will also be available for auction.
Graduate linebacker and chairman of the player committee expressed that, “Our team is passionate about this initiative, and throughout the offseason and years prior, we have built deep relationships with these charities.” He emphasized the importance of using their platform to raise awareness and support for organizations that are crucial to the local community.
The ‘Cleats For A Cause’ initiative will benefit the South Bend Center for the Homeless, the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County, the Casie Center, Cultivate Food Rescue, and the Logan Center. The proceeds from the auction will be evenly distributed among these five charities, ensuring each organization is represented fairly across the shoes worn by the student-athletes.
Notably, Notre Dame Football student-athletes have engaged in extensive volunteer work and collaborative efforts with all five charities included in this initiative throughout the offseason. Each pair of shoes and cleats featured in the initiative has been artistically painted by Jerry Barca, a freshman at Notre Dame.
Further details about the ‘Cleats For A Cause’ initiative are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
