Notre Dame Fighting Irish Hockey Leprechaun Logo

South Bend, Indiana — The Notre Dame Fighting Irish revealed their second sport-specific leprechaun logo on October 16, 2025, just ahead of the men’s hockey team’s home opener.

After introducing the Football Leprechaun logo in August, the university launched the new Hockey Leprechaun mark designed in-house by Fighting Irish Media, with contributions from the hockey program. The logo draws inspiration from various aspects of hockey, including photography and the styles of past and present student-athletes.

Following the logo’s release, Notre Dame debuted new alternate jerseys featuring the Hockey Leprechaun. Made by Under Armour, the jersey boasts a white base with broad navy blue stripes around the waist and sleeves, accented by a narrower green stripe and a tonal celtic knot pattern. The jerseys are adorned with green shamrocks on both shoulders.

Players’ names and numbers on the back are in navy blue, complemented by white and green drop shadows. The design is completed with Notre Dame’s signature metallic gold helmets.

Notre Dame’s standard home and away jerseys for the 2025-26 season will showcase the school’s name in navy blue, with gold and white striping. The home jersey features a white base, while the away jersey is navy blue.

The new leprechaun logos are classified as “secondary spirit marks” and will not replace the existing athletics logos. The athletics department plans to introduce more sport-specific logos for other varsity teams in the upcoming seasons.

The Fighting Irish Leprechaun logo has a storied history, first appearing on the November 20, 1964, cover of Time magazine, featuring head football coach Ara Parseghian. This iconic image has evolved into the well-recognized logo seen on clothing and memorabilia, embodying the resilient spirit of the Fighting Irish.
