Nvidia Set to Dominate AI PC Market as Demand Surges

October 06, 2025 — 06:00 AM EDT — Demand for personal computers (PCs) is skyrocketing as advances in artificial intelligence (AI) reshape the technological landscape. Research firm Gartner estimates sales of AI-enabled PCs reached $51 billion last year, with projections soaring to $90 billion in 2025, and hitting $144 billion by 2026.
The remarkable growth is driven by the ability of these AI PCs to run tasks locally, enhancing user productivity. This requires dedicated hardware, such as neural processing units (NPUs) and graphics processing units (GPUs).
Nvidia, a leader in GPU technology, is capitalizing on this opportunity. Its RTX GPU line not only supports private on-device AI applications but also boosts performance across software, games, and video editing tasks. The company asserts that PCs equipped with its GPUs can generate AI images swiftly and render 3D designs, thus appealing to content creators.
In the second quarter of fiscal 2026, Nvidia reported a remarkable 49% year-over-year revenue increase in its gaming and AI PC division, totaling $4.3 billion. In the first half of the fiscal year alone, revenue surged by 47% to $8.1 billion. Comparatively, revenue growth was only 9% in the prior fiscal year, illustrating a significant upward trend.
At this pace, Nvidia could eclipse $16 billion in gaming and AI PC revenue by the end of fiscal 2026. Given its dominant position, the company is poised to amplify its market share significantly in the coming years. Jon Peddie Research reported Nvidia controls 94% of the discrete GPU market, overshadowing rivals like Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
Market analysis by Technavio suggests the gaming GPU sector could see an additional $60 billion in revenue over the next five years, with Nvidia likely to capture a considerable portion. If Nvidia’s revenue growth continues at a projected rate of 25%, annual revenue from the gaming and AI PC segment could approach $50 billion within five years.
Historically, Nvidia’s revenue was $27 billion in fiscal 2023, but significant growth driven by AI and PC sales is anticipated, pushing total sales beyond $206 billion this year, with about 90% coming from these segments. Nvidia’s growing share of the AI data center chip market further solidifies its position, indicating a substantial rise in company valuation.
Investors are encouraged to consider Nvidia as the demand for AI applications continues to drive growth. With a history of considerable returns, the company remains a compelling investment opportunity in the tech sector.
