Oasis Announces Australian Tour Dates After 16-Year Hiatus
After putting aside a 16-year hiatus, Oasis, the renowned Britpop band, has announced their return to Australia as part of their 2025 comeback world tour. The band will be performing two shows in Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on October 31 and November 1, followed by two shows in Sydney’s Accor Stadium on November 7 and 8.
This highly anticipated tour not only marks the band’s return to the Australian stage for the first time since 2005, but it also celebrates the 30th anniversary of their breakthrough album. In a press release, the band stated, “People of the land down under, you better run—you better take cover. We are coming. You are most welcome.”
Tickets for the Australian performances will be highly sought after, as all 28 international tour dates have already sold out. Fans eager to secure their spots had the opportunity to register for a pre-sale ballot, which closed earlier this week. Public ticket sales will commence on October 15 through Ticketmaster, with Melbourne’s sales starting at 10 AM and Sydney’s at 12 PM AEST. Prices range from $183.28 to $407.57 in Melbourne and $187.39 to $411.67 in Sydney, with handling fees applicable. Sydney tickets will also include public transportation costs.
The tour has seen overwhelming demand across the globe, with tickets in North America selling out nearly 500,000 seats within an hour. The use of “dynamic pricing” in the UK and Ireland sparked substantial debate among fans. However, Oasis’s management confirmed there would be no dynamic pricing for the Australian dates.
In view of the tour’s popularity, Live Nation Australia has encouraged fans to participate in a competition run by Double J radio station, offering listeners a chance to win one of five double passes—three for Melbourne and two for Sydney. Participants are required to tune in on October 10, adhering to Australian Eastern Daylight Saving Time.
As anticipation mounts, the Victoria government is contemplating declaring Oasis’s 2025 tour a major event, which would entail stricter anti-scalping regulations, as seen with past high-profile concerts in the state. Fans are urged to stay informed on further announcements, including the potential addition of more dates.
