Edmonton Oilers Player Trade

The Edmonton Oilers have made some moves in the NHL by trading defenseman Cody Ceci to the San Jose Sharks.

In exchange for Ceci, the Oilers received Ty Emberson, a blueliner who played his first NHL season last year. Ceci had spent the last three seasons with the Oilers, racking up five goals and 20 assists in 79 games last season.

The 30-year-old Ceci also contributed to the Oilers’ journey to the Stanley Cup final, scoring two goals and adding three assists in 24 playoff games. He has a contract that still has one year left, carrying a price tag of $3.25 million.

On the other side, Ty Emberson, who is 24 years old, had a modest season with the Sharks, notching one goal and nine assists in 30 games. He’s considered a prospect with potential, being drafted in the third round of the 2018 NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes.

Earlier the same day, the Oilers also acquired forward Vasily Podkolzin from the Vancouver Canucks, trading away a fourth-round draft pick from Ottawa for him in the process.
