Oklahoma Lottery Commission Online Ticket Sales

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Oklahoma Lottery Commission is seeking legislative approval to modernize its operations amid a changing gambling landscape. The commission aims to create an online ticket sales platform, known as an ‘iLottery,’ similar to systems used in 11 other states.

The push for the iLottery comes as the state looks to adapt to increasing demand for digital lottery sales. An Oklahoma Lottery representative stated that the commission believes an online option will make it easier for residents to participate.

However, approval from the legislature remains uncertain. There are concerns about responsible gambling as more residents turn to online platforms.

Organizations that assist people with gambling addiction are advocating for the inclusion of wellness programs within the new system. According to recent reports, more than 6% of Oklahomans have been identified as having a gambling disorder.

If legislators approve the proposal, the commission will need to ensure that resources are in place to support those at risk of developing gambling issues.
