Olympic champion figure skater Tessa Virtue and her husband, Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly, have shared the joyful news that they are anticipating their first child.

The exciting announcement was made public through a warm post on Virtue’s Instagram account, sparking congratulations and well-wishes from fans and followers.

Virtue, a native of London, Ontario, has garnered widespread acclaim as one of Canada’s most accomplished figure skaters. Her partnership with Scott Moir led to numerous remarkable achievements, including gold medals at the Vancouver 2010 and PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games, setting a new milestone as the first North American ice dance team to secure Olympic gold.

Following their Olympic victories, Virtue and Moir clinched three World Championships titles in 2010, 2012, and 2017, solidifying their status as legends in the sport.

After retiring from competitive skating in 2019, Virtue shifted her focus to new beginnings, tying the knot with Rielly last year, marking the start of a beautiful chapter in their lives together.

Rielly, a Vancouver native, has carved out a prestigious career in professional ice hockey, donning the iconic maple leaf badge in his 11-year tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs. With 791 games played, Rielly ranks third in all-time games played by a Maple Leafs defenseman, behind seasoned stars Tomas Kaberle and Borje Salming.
