OpenAI and NVIDIA Announce $100 Billion Strategic Partnership

San Francisco, CA — OpenAI and NVIDIA announced a strategic partnership today, intending to deploy at least 10 gigawatts of NVIDIA systems for OpenAI’s upcoming AI infrastructure. This historic collaboration aims to facilitate the development of advanced AI models and helps pave the way toward superintelligence.
NVIDIA plans to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI to support the deployment, which will include data centers and power capacity. The first phase is expected to launch in the second half of 2026, utilizing NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform.
“NVIDIA and OpenAI have pushed each other for a decade, from the first DGX supercomputer to the breakthrough of ChatGPT,” said NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. He described the investment as a significant step forward in ushering in a new era of intelligence.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman emphasized the importance of computational resources, stating, “Compute infrastructure will be the basis for the economy of the future.” He aims to leverage this partnership to make AI advancements accessible to everyone.
Greg Brockman, OpenAI’s cofounder and president, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting its role in developing technology used globally, stating, “We’re excited to deploy 10 gigawatts of compute with NVIDIA to push back the frontier of intelligence.”
This partnership will align the roadmaps of both organizations as OpenAI continues to expand its AI capabilities. OpenAI has already reached over 700 million weekly active users and plans to enhance its offerings through this collaboration.
Diving deeper into the logistics, the initial phase of the project will utilize NVIDIA’s cutting-edge computing platform, which includes a new CPU and networking architecture. NVIDIA anticipates this initiative to significantly boost the performance and integration of AI technologies.
The development comes amid an increasing race for AI infrastructure among tech giants, with Microsoft, Meta, and Alphabet also expected to invest heavily in next-gen AI technologies.
NVIDIA and OpenAI are expected to finalize partnership details in the weeks to come.
