Oprah Winfrey to Address Menopause in Upcoming Special

NEW YORK, NY — Oprah Winfrey is set to tackle a topic that affects millions of women in her upcoming ABC special, “An Oprah Winfrey Special: The Menopause Revolution,” scheduled to air on March 31 from 10:01 to 11:00 p.m. EDT.
The hour-long show will feature a panel of medical experts, celebrities, and everyday women discussing their experiences with perimenopause and menopause. Among the notable guests are actresses Halle Berry and Naomi Watts, journalist Maria Shriver, and OB-GYN Dr. Mary Claire Haver.
“When I was around 48 years old, I thought I was dying and went from doctor to doctor trying to understand why my heart was racing,” Winfrey shared. “I did not receive any answers until I picked up a book that explained heart palpitations could indicate an upcoming change in the body. This show starts the revolution of answers for millions of women throughout this country.”
The special aims to provide vital information on managing mental health, sleep, weight, sex, and cognitive function during menopause. Winfrey emphasized the importance of self-advocacy during this life transition. “Our goal is to empower women to navigate these changes,” she stated.
This special marks Winfrey’s third project for ABC within the last year, following shows that addressed obesity and artificial intelligence. “The Menopause Revolution” will be filmed before a live studio audience, allowing real conversations in a supportive environment.
In addition to the celebrity guests, Winfrey will be joined by Dr. Rhonda Voskuhl from UCLA, who will discuss the neurological changes women experience during menopause, and comedian Leanne Morgan, who shares her experiences related to the topic in her Netflix special.
“The Menopause Revolution” aims to break the stigma surrounding menopause, which has often been considered a taboo subject. Winfrey hopes that the special will encourage women of all ages to engage in open dialogues about their experiences and to seek out necessary support.
Produced by Harpo Productions, Winfrey serves as the executive producer alongside Tara Montgomery. The special is poised to be a significant contribution to discussions surrounding women’s health.
In her illustrious career, Oprah Winfrey has become a global media leader and a powerful advocate for women’s health issues. Through her numerous projects, she continues to aim for inclusiveness and empowerment for women everywhere.
