Wienermobile Race Indianapolis Motor Speedway

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Oscar Mayer announces the first-ever “Wienie 500,” a unique event where the fleet of Wienermobiles will race at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday, May 23, at 2 p.m. ET. This event coincides with the Indianapolis 500, which attracts over 330,000 fans who consume nearly 30,000 hot dogs.

The Wienie 500 will feature all six Wienermobiles competing for the first time in over a decade, each representing a different regional hot dog: the Chi Dog from the Midwest, New York Dog from the East, Slaw Dog from the Southeast, Sonoran Dog from the Southwest, Chili Dog from the South, and Seattle Dog from the Northwest. Each vehicle will showcase its new look tailored to its region.

As part of the festivities, Oscar Mayer’s Hotdoggers will wear custom racing suits. A trophy will be awarded in a celebratory setting dubbed the ‘Wiener’s Circle,’ complete with a spray of condiments for the winning Wienermobile.

“The Indy 500 is the unofficial start of summer and hot dog season,” said Kelsey Rice, brand communications director at Oscar Mayer. “Bringing such a joyful event to the Speedway allows us to celebrate a timeless tradition with a little friendly competition.”

Fans can participate in the excitement through a free-to-play pool in collaboration with DraftKings, where they can predict the race’s outcome and win a share of a $10,000 cash prize.

The Wienie 500 highlights Oscar Mayer’s status as the ‘Official Hot Dog’ of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and is paired with a nationwide advertising campaign. Fans can catch the race live on the FOX Sports app and on social media channels @INDYCARonFOX.

This inaugural event promises to be a delightful celebration of America’s favorite summer food while showcasing the iconic Wienermobile in a new light.
