Oscars 2025: Inside Elton John’s Star-Studded Viewing Party

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Elton John‘s renowned Academy Awards Viewing Party, in its 33rd year, took place on March 2, 2025, featuring an impressive lineup of stars and performances, all while raising funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
The event, hosted by John and his husband David Furnish, saw co-hosts including Sheryl Lee Ralph, Jean Smart, Neil Patrick Harris, and David Burtka. Chappell Roan electrified the audience with her performance, expressing her excitement beforehand: “I’m absolutely glowing.” She acknowledged the significance of John’s support, stating, “Elton and his husband, David, have been incredible guiding lights for me this year, showing me a love that has truly helped me through.”
Attendees enjoyed a gourmet dinner prepared by Chef Wolfgang Puck’s catering service and participated in an auction aimed at providing resources for marginalized communities affected by HIV and AIDS. The auction is a key fundraising component of the evening.
The primary Oscar ceremony was also underway, with viewers eager to see which stars would take home golden statuettes. Notably, the film “Emilia Pérez” led the nominations with 13, including Best Picture and Best Actress nods for Karla Sofía Gascón and Zoe Saldaña.
This year’s awards ceremony features historic milestones, as “The Substance,” a horror film, could become the first of its genre to win Best Picture since “The Silence of the Lambs” in 1991. The film’s performance and its acclaimed lead actress have generated considerable buzz among critics and fans alike.
As the night unfolded, a range of performers took to the stage, including a duet by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, captivating the audience and enriching the overall experience.
Following the main event, the night continued with exclusive after-parties hosted by various entertainment entities, including Vanity Fair and Neon, where attendees celebrated their achievements and networked with industry peers.
The festivities were not limited to just the Oscars, as pre-ceremony parties were held throughout Hollywood, featuring nominees and stars mingling at various high-profile events, like the CHANEL dinner and the MPTF ‘Night Before’ benefit.
This year’s viewing party and awards showcase exemplified Hollywood’s glamour and philanthropic spirit as the community rallied together to honor cinematic achievements and support important causes.
