Outer Banks Faces On-Set Incident Amid Season 5 Filming in Croatia
DUBROVNIK, Croatia — Filming for the fifth and final season of Netflix‘s popular series Outer Banks took a tense turn recently after a reported altercation involving co-creator Jonas Pate. Multiple sources claimed that during filming on October 22, Pate allegedly yelled at a female production assistant and physically shook her.
Witnesses said that tensions had been high on set prior to the incident. According to reports, Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline, two of the show’s stars, intervened to de-escalate the situation after they heard yelling coming from the director’s vicinity. ‘He was screaming at the female production assistant and grabbed her by her shoulders,’ a source said. ‘He didn’t hurt her or try to hurt her. He just crossed a line,’ the insider continued.
The incident occurred during the filming of Outer Banks’ fifth season in Dubrovnik, where production has been ongoing since late June. The show follows a group of working-class teens known as the Pogues as they engage in treasure hunting that ties back to the disappearance of one of the characters’ fathers.
Jonas Pate, who co-created the series with his twin brother Josh Pate and Shannon Burke, has been known to direct many episodes throughout the seasons. In light of this incident, sources indicate that such behavior may not be unusual for him.
Netflix has not yet provided an official comment regarding the situation. Meanwhile, filming resumed without major disruption after the confrontation. Production continues as fans eagerly await the release of the final season, which has no confirmed premiere date but is expected in 2026.
Chase Stokes also addressed fans on social media, expressing his gratitude for their support over the years. ‘Thank you to everybody who has tuned in these past 5 years. You’ve given us more than we could ever give back to you,’ he wrote.
