Over 560,000 Govee Electric Space Heaters Recalled Due to Fire and Burn Risks
About 560,000 GoveeLife and Govee smart electric space heaters have been recalled due to significant safety concerns. The recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), affects approximately 512,500 heaters sold in the United States and an additional 48,600 sold in Canada.
The recalled models include GoveeLife and Govee smart electric space heaters with model numbers H7130 (including the H7130101 variation), H7131, H7132, H7133, H7134, and H7135. These heaters were sold online through platforms such as Amazon.com, the Govee Home App, and the TikTok Shop from September 2021 through September 2024, priced between $30 and $150.
The CPSC has reported that the recalled space heaters do not comply with the voluntary industry safety standard ANSI/UL 1278, specifically due to issues with their wireless control features that can lead to overheating. There have been 113 reports of overheating, including seven fires and one minor burn injury.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled heaters. To obtain a refund, they should unplug the heater, cut the power cord, and send an image of the destroyed unit, along with the manufacturer’s label and SN Code, to GoveeLife or Govee. Full refunds will be provided for those with the original order number, while partial refunds ranging from $31.80 to $106.63 will be given to those without the order number.
For assistance, consumers can contact GoveeLife or Govee at 833-772-5360 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or email [email protected].
