Packers Eye Running Back Help Before NFL Trade Deadline
Green Bay, Wisconsin – The Green Bay Packers are gearing up for the NFL trade deadline as they seek to enhance their roster. Currently, with a strong 4-1-1 record, they are viewed as playoff contenders in the NFC.
Head coach Matt LaFleur has praised his talented squad but acknowledges that improvements are necessary. As injuries affect team dynamics, the Packers are actively exploring options to bolster key positions.
Reports indicate that the Packers have contacted four teams regarding potential running back trades. According to Easton Butler of Packer Report, the Packers reached out to the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, and Baltimore Ravens, with De'Von Achane as a notable target.
<p"The Packers have been making calls leading up to the deadline, including at the running back position," Butler stated. "They’ve called 4 teams about RBs, those being: Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, and the Baltimore Ravens. De'Von Achane was one of the players, but it was just a call to see price. Nothing more for him.
The Packers’ current starting running back, Josh Jacobs, is a former Pro Bowler, but his recent calf issue has raised concerns about depth at the position. Meanwhile, Green Bay’s backup, who filled in after Jacobs, is on injured reserve with a hamstring issue.
Achane, a 24-year-old standout with the Dolphins, has shown promise this season, rushing 89 times for 472 yards and three touchdowns. He has also caught 32 passes for 211 yards and three additional scores. Adding a playmaker like Achane could significantly enhance the Packers’ offensive firepower.
As the trade deadline approaches on November 4, many are eager to see if the Packers will follow through on their interest in Achane or other potential trade opportunities.
