Pamela Anderson Plane Incident Dixie Chicks

Pamela Anderson revealed on a recent episode of the podcast “Happy Sad Confused” that she was nearly attacked by a man who mistook her for a member of The Chicks, formerly known as the Dixie Chicks. The incident occurred during a flight, where the man confronted her, leading to a tense situation that required flight attendants to intervene.

Anderson recounted the encounter, stating, “This one time, I was on a flight and this guy came up to me and said, ‘Do you know what this country’s done for you?'” She added, “I was like, ‘Oh, my God. What have I done?'” The man became increasingly aggressive, prompting flight attendants to handcuff him to his seat to prevent an attack.

The actress explained that the man believed she was a member of The Chicks, referencing the backlash the country music group faced in 2003 after lead singer Natalie Maines criticized then-President George W. Bush and the Iraq War. Anderson did not specify the exact date of the incident but suggested it occurred during the height of the controversy.

Maines’ comments during a London concert led to widespread condemnation, with the group being blacklisted by many country music radio stations. Although Maines initially apologized, she later retracted her apology, stating in a 2006 interview with Time Magazine, “I don’t feel he is owed any respect whatsoever.” The group officially changed their name to The Chicks in 2020.

Anderson admitted that the incident left her shaken, saying, “I almost got killed on a plane. I was scared to fly after that, a little bit.” The actress shared the story while promoting her role in Gia Coppola‘s film “The Last Showgirl.”
