Mobland Paramount+ Crime Drama Premiere

NEW YORK, NY — Paramount+ has recorded its largest global series launch with the premiere of ‘MobLand,’ which attracted 2.2 million viewers on March 30, 2025, according to internal streaming data.

The crime drama joins previously successful series ‘1923‘ and ‘Landman‘ as the platform’s top three launches in history. Notably, ‘MobLand’ also garnered 9.7 million views across social media platforms, indicating a strong online presence.

Chris McCarthy, Paramount’s Co-CEO, touted the series as a testament to the company’s strategy of producing fewer yet impactful series that stand out in the crowded entertainment landscape. ‘MobLand is yet another proof point for the power of our differentiated model — fewer, bigger, breakthrough series that can cut through the clutter,’ McCarthy stated.

‘MobLand’ focuses on the thrilling dynamics between two rival crime families in London, led by Pierce Brosnan‘s character, who grapples with power struggles inside a larger crime syndicate. The ensemble cast also features Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Paddy Considine.

The show’s creator, Ronan Bennett, known for ‘Top Boy’ and ‘The Day of the Jackal,’ along with writer Jez Butterworth, have crafted a narrative that captivates audiences. This marks Butterworth’s second successful series for Paramount+, following ‘The Agency.’

News about ‘MobLand’ comes in the wake of its strategic placement in Paramount’s content offerings, with the series highlighting the company’s ambitions in the competitive streaming market. It is set to expand its audienc in Italy, Germany, France, Latin America, and Brazil by May 30, 2025.

McCarthy concluded that the critical acclaim and viewer engagement for ‘MobLand’ represents not just a success for the series but also reinforces Paramount’s efforts to be a prominent player in subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) services.
