Frasier Revival Cast Paramount+ 2025

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Paramount+ has canceled the revival of the beloved sitcom “Frasier” after two seasons, Variety confirmed on Jan. 17, 2025. The series, which premiered in October 2023, will not return for a third season, though CBS Studios plans to shop the show to other platforms.

The revival, led by Kelsey Grammer reprising his iconic role as psychiatrist Frasier Crane, aimed to reconnect the character with his son Freddy, played by Jack Cutmore-Scott. The series also featured Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s friend Alan, Toks Olagundoye as department head Olivia, Jess Salgueiro as Freddy’s roommate Eve, and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew David. Patricia Heaton joined the cast in Season 2 as Holly, a new love interest for Frasier.

Despite its star-studded cast and legacy, the revival failed to replicate the success of the original “Frasier,” which aired for 11 seasons on NBC from 1993 to 2004 and won 37 Primetime Emmys. The revival earned three nominations but no awards during its run.

“There’s enough groundwork laid between these human beings; they are wonderful characters. I want to see where they go. And I want to see what happens to Frasier,” Grammer told Variety in 2023, expressing hope for at least 100 more episodes.

The series, produced by CBS Studios and Grammnet NH Productions, was distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of Paramount+ markets. Legendary director James Burrows, who helmed multiple episodes of the original series, returned to direct several episodes of the revival.

Season 2, which debuted in September 2024, featured cameos from original “Frasier” cast members Dan Butler (Bulldog), Edward Hibbert (Gil Chesterton), and Peri Gilpin (Roz). The season concluded in November with a Christmas-themed episode that saw Alan reconnecting with his estranged daughter.

Fans expressed disappointment on social media, with many hoping another platform, such as Hulu or Amazon Prime, would pick up the series. “Season 2 was really good. So disappointed. Streamers cancel everything after 1-2 seasons, making it hard to get invested in anything,” one fan commented.

The first two seasons of the revival, along with the original “Frasier,” remain available to stream on Paramount+.
