WASHINGTON, D.C. – ParkMobile, the widely used parking app, has agreed to a $32.8 million settlement connected to a 2021 data breach that affected millions of its users. This settlement comes as part of a class-action lawsuit filed against the company.

The breach, which was reported in March 2021, compromised personal information of ParkMobile users, including email addresses, phone numbers, license plate numbers, and passwords. The settlement will benefit approximately 21 million individuals who received notification of the incident, categorizing them as ‘Settlement Class Members.’

According to ParkMobile, users who submit claims by March 5, 2025, could receive up to $25 in cash or a $1 credit towards future use of the app. Payments will only be issued following a final court hearing scheduled for March 13, 2025, with potential distributions delayed until 2026.

ParkMobile maintains that it does not admit any wrongdoing as part of the settlement, emphasizing its commitment to improving cybersecurity and protecting user data. The company stated, ‘Our decision to settle the case enables us to focus on the ongoing protection of our customers’ information and to continue enhancing our services.’

Individuals wishing to participate must act before the deadline, while employees of ParkMobile, judges, and their families are excluded from claiming compensation. Eligible users can submit their claims via the designated settlement website or request a claim form by calling 866-944-4062.

Christopher E. Roberts, a class action attorney with Butsch Roberts & Associates LLC, stated, ‘This is a significant settlement in the world of data breach class actions… yet another wake-up call to businesses that they ensure the safeguarding of consumer data.’
