Paul Heaton And Norman Cook Reunite To Perform Housemartins Classic At Glastonbury 2024

English indie rock icons Paul Heaton and Norman Cook came together for a surprise reunion at Glastonbury 2024, treating fans to a rendition of their Housemartins hit ‘Happy Hour’.

The unexpected collaboration took place during Heaton’s set on the legendary Pyramid Stage, capturing the crowd’s attention and sparking nostalgic cheers.

The Housemartins, initially formed as a busking duo by Heaton and Stan Cullimore, saw continued success after recruiting Cook, who later transformed into the renowned electronic artist Fatboy Slim.

Known for their infectious tunes, the Housemartins disbanded in 1988 at the peak of their popularity, with each member pursuing solo projects thereafter.

Glastonbury’s first day of music witnessed a jubilant performance from Boyzone, alongside a triumphant set from Irish folk group The Waterboys who moved up to the Park Stage.

Heaton’s introduction of Cook during their ‘Happy Hour’ rendition marked a significant moment for fans, reigniting memories of the band’s heyday and showcasing their enduring chemistry.

Having made a mark in the music scene since the early 80s, Paul Heaton and Norman Cook’s reunion stirred excitement and appreciation among attendees at the acclaimed festival.

As the night progressed, the crowd eagerly awaited performances from PJ Harvey, LCD Soundsystem, and Dua Lipa, promising a star-studded lineup ahead.

Reflecting on his history with Glastonbury, Heaton shared fond memories of the band’s 1986 appearance at the festival, recalling the thrill of playing to an expanding audience as their hit ‘Happy Hour’ gained momentum.
