Peaky Blinders Star's Future In Doubt After Drug Possession

The future of Peaky Blinders star, Paul Anderson, has been cast into uncertainty following his recent drug possession incident. Anderson, who plays the beloved character Arthur Shelby in the hit TV series, was fined for possessing various illicit substances during an incident at a pub in Hampstead on Boxing Day 2023. The talented actor, known for his roles in The Revenant and The Firm, appeared in court last Thursday where he pled guilty to possessing class A crack cocaine, class B amphetamines, and two class C prescription drugs, resulting in a fine of £1,345.

The incident came to light after a manager at the pub alerted the police upon noticing crack cocaine fumes emanating from the disabled toilet, right after Anderson had used it. Subsequently, the British actor was taken to a nearby police station where they found crack cocaine, amphetamines, diazepam, and pregabalin in his possession. Anderson’s lawyer reportedly defended him by stating that he hadn’t smoked crack cocaine and should have had the strength to refuse it, while also highlighting his dedication to his fans and the show’s character.<

Peaky Blinders concluded its final season in April 2022, however, the show is set to make a comeback in the form of a film written by creator Steven Knight. Anderson’s portrayal of Arthur Shelby has made him an integral part of the series, which now raises questions about his inclusion in the upcoming film. Industry insiders have expressed concerns, suggesting that his recent drug possession charge presents significant challenges for production. They added that it would be difficult to imagine a Peaky Blinders film without such a pivotal character, although having Anderson reprise the role given the circumstances would also be problematic. The final option mentioned was the cancellation of the entire project.

The BBC, responsible for the production of Peaky Blinders, has not provided any official comments on the matter so far. Fans of the show eagerly await updates on whether Anderson’s future with Peaky Blinders will continue or if alternative arrangements will be made for the film adaptation.
