Peloton Bike+ Recall News

Washington, D.C. — Peloton Interactive Inc. is recalling approximately 833,000 units of its Original Series Bike+ due to reports of seat post failures that led to injuries. The announcement was made by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Thursday.

The recall affects every Bike+ manufactured between 2019 and 2022, which were sold from January 2020 to April 2025. Peloton stopped production of this model in 2022. The CPSC reported that it has received three accounts of seat posts detaching while in use, resulting in two injuries.

Customers are urged to immediately stop using the affected bikes and reach out to Peloton for a free repair. The company is providing a new seat post that users can install themselves. A company spokesperson stated, “The integrity of our products and our Members’ well-being are our top priorities,” urging users to request the new part “as soon as possible.”

This recall marks the fifth product recall in Peloton’s history. In May 2023, the company issued a recall for 2.2 million original Bike units due to similar seat post issues that resulted in 13 injuries. Previously, the company recalled its Tread+ treadmill in 2021 following a child’s death.

The CPSC insists that consumers should check the model number (PL02) and serial numbers beginning with “T” to see if their bike is among the recalled units. The bikes sold for approximately $2,495 and were available at Peloton showrooms, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and various online retailers.

Pursuing a turnaround, Peloton has been adapting to changing consumer behavior post-pandemic. Just over a month ago, the company announced new hardware features and raised prices in anticipation of the holiday sales season.

Affected users will be notified on Thursday with instructions on how to obtain a replacement seat post.
