Penny Lancaster Charity Event Singing

Penny Lancaster, a well-known panelist on the British talk show “Loose Women,” captured the audience’s attention at an exclusive charity event in London by performing one of her favorite songs. She was cheered on by her husband, the legendary musician Rod Stewart, who pledged a generous donation to the cause.

During the event, Lancaster, who is 53 years old and had never before attempted karaoke, sang “Hopelessly Devoted to You” from the musical “Grease.” The event was dedicated to celebrating the bond between people and their pets and raising funds for a London-based charity. “Singing in front of a room of 60 people, I was a little intimidated,” Lancaster admitted, “but I thought: ‘For charity, it’s got to be done.'” Her husband, Sir Rod Stewart, expressed his delight in her performance, describing it as “superb.”

The charity event took place at The Ned, an exclusive members’ club in London, and was curated by Mark Aldridge of the King’s Foundation Development Board. In attendance were several celebrities, including singers Joss Stone and Howard Jones, Martin Gore of Depeche Mode, and actresses Emilia Fox and Patsy Kensit, all of whom contributed personal letters and photographs of their pets for an auction aimed at raising funds for the charity.

The items, which include photographs signed by the celebrities and featuring their pet’s paw print, are up for online auction until late October. Funds raised will support the Celia Hammond Animal Trust, a small charity that provides low-cost veterinary services for cats and dogs owned by low-income individuals in London.

Penny Lancaster and her husband Sir Rod Stewart were among the celebrities who donated items to the auction. Their contribution includes a photograph taken by their 13-year-old son, Aiden, featuring their six-year-old rescue dog, Lilly. “It was amusing because my 13-year-old son Aiden volunteered to take the photo,” Lancaster remarked, adding that their cavapoo, Bubbles, also managed to sneak into the shot.

Penny speaks fondly of her dog Lilly, noting her attachment and anxiety issues: “She follows you everywhere, and I’m sure she suffers from separation anxiety.” Lancaster also highlighted Lilly’s fear of farmers’ guns, describing her as “quite a nervous character, but she’s precious.”

The evening was marked by its lighthearted atmosphere, with guests enjoying champagne and animal-themed cookies. Artist Emma Stothard contributed to the ambiance with willow sculptures, including one of King Charles’ Jack Russell dog. Another notable auction item was a signed lithograph of actor Johnny Depp.

Penny Lancaster urged animal lovers to participate in the auction, emphasizing the charity’s need for support: “It’s a very small charity, run by volunteers and people with big hearts, and they’re saving the lives of these precious furry friends. It’s an incredible cause.”
