Photographer Proposes During Solar Eclipse, Capturing Perfect Moment
Josh Dinner, a photographer from Bloomington, orchestrated a beautiful proposal during the highly anticipated April 8 solar eclipse.
The proposal was a surprise for his partner, Dara, who shares his love for Star Wars and film classics like Jurassic Park.
Josh spent a year planning the perfect moment and managed to capture it on camera with the eclipse as a backdrop.
Dara’s favorite film is Star Wars, and she recently introduced Josh to the masterpiece, Jurassic Park.
The couple met on a dating app in 2021 and quickly bonded over their mutual passion for movies and space exploration.
Josh, who works at Space.com, has been preparing for the eclipse’s coverage, making the proposal even more special.
Before the eclipse, Josh had planned to propose on the roof of a parking garage in Bloomington, near a Taco Bell, but structural concerns led to a change of plans.
He then opted to propose at the Hoosier Cosmic Celebration at Indiana University’s Memorial Stadium.
The event featured esteemed guests like NASA astronaut Mae Jemison and a concert by Janelle Monu00e1e.
Josh utilized creative props, including a ring box disguised as a camera lens, and incorporated his love for haikus into the proposal.
The innovative ring box was a Canon lens modified to reveal an engagement ring when twisted.
Josh’s proposal comprised seven haikus, culminating in a pun-filled declaration of love.
The moment was captured on camera, ensuring a lasting memory of the unique celestial event.
After the proposal, the couple rejoiced and then turned their attention back to the solar eclipse, savoring the rest of the totality together.
Josh’s unwavering passion for space and his thoughtful proposal during the eclipse highlighted the depth of his love for Dara.
