Pierce Brosnan Remembers Robin Williams on ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ Set

San Francisco, CA – Pierce Brosnan recalls his brief but memorable time with Robin Williams during the filming of the classic comedy “Mrs. Doubtfire.” In a recent interview, Brosnan stated, “I really never worked with Robin Williams; I only worked with Mrs. Doubtfire.”
Brosnan, who played Stuart “Stu” Dunmeyer, noted that their interactions were limited despite sharing the screen in the beloved 1993 film. Williams portrays a father who dresses as a female nanny to stay close to his children amidst a divorce.
The Irish actor recalled the first day on set, saying, “They said, ‘Do you want to meet Robin?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’d love to meet him.’” Brosnan entered the makeup trailer to find Williams in a Hawaiian shirt, a sight that was both humorous and endearing.
Brosnan described Williams’ playful spirit, recalling how he teased him with Mrs. Doubtfire’s accent, saying, “Oh, Pierce, you’re so handsome. Come here, give us a kiss,” before switching to a deeper male voice. “He jumped all over the place,” Brosnan said, highlighting Williams’ comedic range.
Williams was known for pushing boundaries in humor, as illustrated by a particular scene where his character jokingly suggests a sexual encounter. Brosnan shared, “There’s reams of footage of me just kind of falling around on the floor with laughter, and he went really blue.” He went on to describe Williams as “such a kind-hearted man” who was vibrant and full of life when the children weren’t on set. “I loved the man,” Brosnan added.
