Playboi Carti Teases Fans with Bold Billboards for ‘I AM MUSIC’

LOS ANGELES, CA — Playboi Carti is generating buzz for his upcoming project, ‘I AM MUSIC,’ following the appearance of bold billboards in cities like Miami and Los Angeles that read, ‘MUSIC IS COMING’ and ‘I AM MUSIC MF.’ The artist’s campaign features his signature font alongside the Spotify logo, creating heightened anticipation among fans.
Previously, the rapper has teased the release through social media singles and collaborations with artists such as The Weeknd and Latto. His live performance at Rolling Loud Miami last year excited fans, though the album’s official release remains elusive. Despite ongoing skepticism from fans, the recent marketing push indicates Carti may finally be responding to public demand.
Fans have mixed feelings about the new advertisements, with some expressing doubt. Comments on social media platforms highlight this skepticism; user nn.anfoo remarked, ‘I’ve never seen a man go to such lengths to LIE before,’ while jmv.503 quipped, ‘gta 8 dropping before carti does.’
In contrast, betting odds on the prediction market Polymarket suggest that the album is likely to drop before June 1, offering a glimmer of hope. As of February 19, users on the platform are encouraged to bet on its release.
This isn’t the first time the Atlanta rapper hinted at a rollout ahead of an album; his fans are hopeful Carti will not retreat once again. In August, during a performance at Splash! Festival in Germany, he assured the crowd, ‘I promise you the album is coming,’ before teasing a new track.
In a September cover story for Billboard, producer Cardo, known for tracks like ‘God’s Plan‘ and ‘Goosebumps,’ stated, ‘Carti’s style is in constant evolution,’ also revealing a new sound they have dubbed ‘burnt music.’
Reports earlier indicated that ‘I AM MUSIC’ was slated for release by the end of 2024, yet fans have been left hanging without a concrete release date. Frustrations have surfaced online, prompting many to voice their discontent.
However, the anticipation has only grown, with various artists also hinting at upcoming releases, signaling a busy start to 2025 for the music industry. Notably, The Weeknd and Lady Gaga have made headlines with their own teasers, which adds to the swelling excitement surrounding new music this year.
Carti’s longstanding track record of teasing releases without immediate results has left some fans impatient, and even reveling in memes highlighting the delays. In a recent public interview, streamer Kai Cenat urged Carti directly, stating, ‘Carti, just drop! In my world, a lot of people need that,’ to which Carti responded, acknowledging the viral moment.
As the music community waits with bated breath, fans remain hopeful that Playboi Carti will finally deliver the long-anticipated album, ‘I AM MUSIC.’
